Commission Junction

I joined Commission Junction a while back as a source of affiliate products and programs. They offer one of the largest sets of affiliates under one roof, and have always provided great tools for managing links, tracking, reporting etc.

Recently they’ve come under fire. I haven’t follow the entire ordeal, but generally it seems that they updated their core software and reporting and it didn’t go well and they didn’t manage the fallout very well. Checks were late, reporting delayed, the site was unavailable… it was a mess.

I haven’t had any problem with CJ yet, but I’m also not a major player like some of the folks. You can find CJ here – Commission Junction – This isn’t an affiliate link since you can’t be one of their “recruiters” without meeting their minimum standards, which I don’t.

They’re owned by a larger company (ValueClick I think) and the bFast affiliate group is on the same page. You should check them out too.

Both CJ and bFast provide a lot of link options, and some datafeed options for selected merchants, and selected publishers.

Anyway, enough for today… Check them out. Let me know how things go for you.

GMAIL Anyone

I’ve had a GMAIL account for sometime now and I love it. Aside from being able to sort messages in the inbox, it has all the important functionality of any other email.

I forward my personal and business email accounts there when I’m away from home, so that I can easily keep track of important emails. My webhost allows webmail access, but by forwarding them automatically to GMAIL I can see them in one place, review and file them quickly, and then go to my webhost if I need to action something.

I’ve got 50 free GMAIL accounts to give away. You can only get them by invitation. If you want one, email me at gmail@affiliatetools.ca and I’ll send you an invitation.

ClickBank

One of the first affiliate type programs I joined was ClickBank – they offer an exciting array of options for promoting e-goods such as eBooks, software, newsletters, and 1 time membership websites. The provide an interesting if confusing website for finding products. They’re grouped by categories to help you narrow down your search.

For example, if you want to promote Photoshop/graphics tutorials, you can click on the main category of COMPUTING AND INTERNET and you’re in that main category. Click on the GRAPHICS link and you’re in that tighter category. From there, you can choose a product like this one: Tutorials – Dreamweaver, Photoshop and more. All of the products show their current % of commission which can range up to 75% or higher. With some products priced at $99, that’s a healthy commission.

You then generate a “HOPLINK” which is a special link that includes your affiliate code so you get credit for any purchases made through it. It also sets a cookie on the surfer’s machine that sticks around a while. You’ll also potentially get credit for any other CLICKBANK purchases the user makes unless they click on another HOPLINK.

I’ve made a couple of hundred dollars using CLICKBANK and not trying to hard. Check it out at this link – and yes, I get credit if you join:

Welcome to my first blog posting. I’m Jeff, and I’m trying to earn a lot of money using various affiliate programs, traffic sources and just about any other techniques I can I figure out.

Here, I’ll review various books I read & purchase, various programs I join and use and talk about everything else I do that relates to my attempts to market products & services online.

Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions, or if I seriously mess something up and want to correct me.
