How to lose customers, quickly
I know I haven’t posted in like a year, but today, I realized I do have things to say from time to time. Like this.
How to lose customers, quickly.
I was looking for a light-tent to take product pictures for another business and found one I liked on eBay. I then decided to “Shop Locally” and checked out a few photo stores here online, didn’t find what I wanted, but emailed 3 of them asking if they carried what I was after, or something similar.
None did. However, 2 of the 3 replied and told me what they did offer. They weren’t what I wanted, but at least they tried. The 3rd company wrote back “not here, thanks” – and that’s it.
No attempt to offer me something else, find something for me, or even connect with me in anyway as a potential customer.
Quite simply, they lost me as a future customer. I will never shop there. Now, I have only shopped there 1 time before to get my passport photo taken so they’re not losing too much at this point. But what if my next purchase was an expensive camera or lighting kit? I MAY have chosen them, but they have now ensure I will never shop there.
And guess what I did next? Yep, tell all my co-workers, including a part-time photographer, how I thought that company sucked. They may have just lost 10 more customers all because they were too lazy to write more than 3 words.
Watch your communication with customers and potential customers. What message are you sending out?
